Services Provided By FNRC

Far Northern Regional Center provides the following services and supports to eligible individuals and their families:

  • Case Management Services: a Service Coordinator is assigned to each eligible individual to provide information, support and referral in order to assure that appropriate services are obtained. An Individual Program Plan (IPP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) is developed and reviewed on a periodic basis.
  • Diagnosis And Evaluations: developmental, hearing, medical, speech, vision, genetic, nursing, and nutritional evaluations may be provided to establish whether a person has or, in the case of an infant, is at risk for a developmental disability. These are completed by regional center staff or coordinated with service providers in the community.
  • Health Services: nursing, nutrition, and medical consultation services may be provided as necessary. The regional center will fund health services which are not covered by other funding sources, if the service is directly related to the developmental disability. The regional center is also responsible for admission to and discharge from State Developmental Centers (State Hospitals)
  • Genetic Services: In order to help families identify or understand the causes or origin of a developmental disability, the regional center provides genetic counseling when appropriate as part of the assessment process. Often the risk of recurrence or the lack thereof for the disability is also examined and discussed. Clinics are held every other month in both our Chico and Redding offices. Parental Diagnosis funding is available to parents who are considered at risk of having a child with a developmental disability and who do not have available insurance.
  • Respite Care: respite services may be provided to relieve family members from the demanding responsibility of caring for a person with a developmental disability. Respite care may be provided in the family home or at another location as deemed necessary.
  • Developmental Services: these may include infant development programs, parent education, family training, speech therapy, hearing and vision services, physical and occupational therapy, psychological services, and assistive technology services.
  • Legal And Financial Services: these may include court ordered evaluations, limited conservatorship services, representative payee services for governmental benefits, and the like.

Cost For Services

In most cases, there are no costs for services unless families are involved in the Family Cost Participation Program.
