FNRC Art Exhibits Periodically, FNRC (in cooperation with other agencies) presents art
exhibitions featuring the work of our consumers. Exhibits usually feature an
opening reception with the artists. Photos from the opening events are posted on

Consumer Emergency Preparedness Materials
The DDS Consumer Advisory Committee has developed consumer friendly materials
for the development of personal emergency preparedness plans by consumers.
These materials consist of a workbook, magnet, and DVD to assist consumers to
identify things they need and are important to them in the event of an
emergency. The CAC is currently developing a train-the-trainers manual and
training many members to present the materials to other consumers so that they
may go on to train others. The goal is to distribute 250,000 packets of
materials to every consumer served in our system to enhance their personal

Ready, Willing, & Able - Disaster Preparedness and Response
Course on Meeting the Needs of Persons with Disabilities
The Public Health Foundation is offering a free
Internet course for health professionals who may work with people with
disabilities in times of disaster. The course has twelve objectives focusing on
the needs of, and communicating with, individuals with disabilities. The course
also has a component requiring creative problem solving in responding to
possible scenarios a person may face when assisting people with disabilities
during an emergency.
This is a two hour course sponsored by the
University of Kansas Research and Training Center on Independent Living and the
Kansas Department of Health Education. The course is available at:
