Cory Smith
My name is Cordell, but most people know me as
Cory. I have recently joined the ranks with Shelly Anderson and
Meaghan Skinner as a member of the Quality
Assurance Evaluation team. I visit with individuals in their homes
to assess safety and satisfaction with their living arrangements. I
love the chance it gives me to help their voice be heard. From
simple requests like having their favorite food served, to important
considerations like the bond and closeness they feel towards their
care provider and house/roommates.
I hope to become involved with Adventures in
Business as part of my goal to grow and sell organic produce for
Chico's Farmers' M arket. I have a large garden plot behind my home
which I have filled with seasonal vegetables and fruits of all
kinds. I believe it is important to offer food to my community that
is nutritious and free of pesticides.
I also work for the ARC of Butte County through
their Thrift Store program here in Chico. I have seen it grow from a
small thrift store off the Esplanade to our current establishment
with a large thrift store off Park Ave. and a new store that is
slated to open this month in Oroville. ARC uses the proceeds from
its sales to run many programs that assist the our community
including Life Skills, Day Program Classes (Cooking, Art, Karate,
etc.), as well as a respite service that gives parents of kids with
disabilities a helping hand!
