   LISTEN! or Learn Independence STop Exploitation Now! is a safety awareness program designed to reduce consumer vulnerability to abuse. This program teaches prevention, reinforces safety awareness, identifies unsafe situations and builds confidence and self-esteem.

   The project creator and presenter, Sherri Douglas, is a consumer advocate at FNRC. "I teach people with disabilities how to say "NO!" and mean it," Sherri explains. "Prevention is the key to ending abuse." She presents to consumers at their group home or day program. She also provides training to direct care staff. Presentations last about 45 minutes.
