Viva Victor!

August 6, 2018 Adam Knight

Last month my friend Victor Garcia Diax was recognized for 9 years of service to our community.  Victor helps a non-profit newspaper called Sabias Que? This newspaper services the Latino community in Chico and Butte County.  When I asked what he does for Sabias Que Victor stated, “I count the newspapers and put them in different stores.”  He continued, “I negotiate and talk with the store owners” who in turn give Victor permission to leave copies of the paper for their customers.  Victor has traveled with his sister Maria, the editor of Sabias Que in order to develop relationships with his customers for 9 years.

Not only does Victor help distribute newspapers and speak with businesses in the community but he also volunteers for Sabias Que? Annual fund raising night. At these events Victor accepts tickets, handles money and assigns guest to their tables.

Victor shared that he “was happy”, when asked how he felt to receive a recognition plaque for his lengthy service to Sabias Que. Victor hapinees came as no surprise to this writer as Victor is definitely happiest when he is helping!  Victor has proven himself to be a hard worker that is willing to do whatever task is asked of him with precision and skill. Congratulations Victor on being recognized for 9 years of dedication to the community through Sabias Que!
