In preparation for the upcoming election, a community-driven Voter Information Event will be held on October 21st, 2024. This informative session is designed to help voters better understand the statewide propositions on the ballot and make informed decisions. The event is hosted by We Care A lot Foundation and organized by Brandi Seaters, Program Manager. This informative session is exclusively available via Zoom, making it more accessible to everyone.
The event follows a successful Voter Registration drive that took place earlier this year. During the previous event, local elected officials, candidates, and the League of Women Voters participated, alongside a demonstration by the Registrar of Voters office, showing how ballots can be printed in large format and read aloud for accessibility. Although attendance was smaller than anticipated, the community was able to register several new voters and gain critical information.
The upcoming session will break down the propositions on the ballot, avoiding candidate discussions to maintain neutrality. Seaters emphasizes, “We won’t be covering candidates as there are just too many on the ballot, and it’s important we avoid seeming partisan. We’re focusing on the propositions. We’ll explain what a ‘yes’ vote means and what a ‘no’ vote means, as they can often be confusing.”
The event will be held entirely on Zoom, allowing attendees from any location to participate and ask questions. Voters are encouraged to have their sample ballots ready, as they can mark them during the event based on the explanations provided.

Date: October 21st, 2024

Attendees will be guided through each proposition in detail, ensuring they leave feeling confident about what their vote will mean. This event is open to the public, with a particular emphasis on encouraging people with disabilities to participate and familiarize themselves with their ballots.
Seaters adds, “The last day to register to vote by mail for this election is the 21st, though voters can still register provisionally on Election Day. We’ll be able to assist with registrations during the event, and there will be plenty of opportunities for questions.”
