This year regional centers have a new legal requirement that requires us to display on our Web site information about the dollar value of services that have been purchased for those we serve. This is called “Purchase of Service” and must be reported separately by ethic/racial group, language and diagnosis.
The Legislature asked for this information as a first step in trying to understand what the differences are between diverse groups of people served by the regional center.
The Legislature also required that each regional center “meet with stakeholders in a public meeting regarding the data”. One public meeting will be held June 26th in Red Bluff at the Hampton Inn at 10:00 a.m.
We also plan on having small focus groups with a variety of people.
The data from Far Northern Regional Center shows that for children living at home there is a difference between ethnic groups. Full data can be found on our website at: www.farnorthernrc.org/main/home/transparency-portal/pos-expenditures.
Why is there a difference? Is there anything we can do at FNRC to change these numbers? What are your thoughts? Please share them by attending the meeting on June 26th at the Hampton Inn in Red Bluff.
This is only the first step in a long journey to address the factors that create differences between the people we serve. We look forward to hearing from you.
