Far Northern Regional Center (FNRC) is excited to introduce its IDEA Specialist, Dana Sutter! I.D.E.A. stands for Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which is federal legislation that was put in place in 1990. IDEA governs how early intervention, special education and related services are provided to eligible youth from 0-21 years old (up to 22 years old in California).
Dana has been employed with FNRC since February 2016 and brings a wealth of experience to her new role as IDEA Specialist. She has a B.A. in Child Development and previous experience as a case manager, disability advocate, early intervention specialist, socialization facilitator, preschool teacher and director, curriculum developer, and trainer for IEP and high school transition services.
The IDEA Specialist position is new to FNRC, and Dana is responsible for providing technical support, training, and assistance to service coordinators, families and schools within all communities served by FNRC.
