Kay Cullis, FNRC SC, Dies

June 5, 2013 Adam Knight

Kay Cullis

16 year employee of FNRC, Alaina “Kay” Cullis died of pancreatitis at Shasta Regional Medical Center Saturday, June 1.

Cullis, 54, was an Anderson resident of over 25 years. Along with her work at the regional center, she was extremely active at the Riverfront Playhouse, a community theater in Redding.

Carol Robeson, a colleague at the River Front Playhouse said, “She was like a sister to everyone. She meant the world to us all. She was just a very special person.”

Kay was an employee of Far Northern Regional Center in Redding for 16 years, Executive Director Laura Larson said. She started out as an accounting assistant, was promoted to public relations and was recently assigned to a service coordinator position, working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

“She was very good at her job. People loved her,” Larson said. “She liked her job and we liked her.”

Cullis is survived by her husband Joe Cullis and son Joey Cullis.

A service for Kay will be held on Monday, June 10th, at 10:00 a.m. at The Stirring, located at 2250 Churn Creek Road, Redding, across from the Post Office.

It was Kay's vision to provide happiness to those in need. Donations in her memory may be made to Holidays are for Caring, a program that she established during her career at Far Northern Regional Center in Redding. You can call 530-222-4791 for more information.
