Redding, CA – May 10, 2019 – Far Northern Regional Center (FNRC) and the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the promotion of Melissa Gruhler to the position of Executive Director effective July 1, 2019.
Melissa Gruhler will assume the position of Executive Director upon the retirement of Laura Larson, which is schedule for July 11, 2019. As Executive Director, Melissa Gruhler shall be responsible for the planning, organization, development and direction of the operations and programs of FNRC in accordance with the Center’s contract with the State of California’s Department of Developmental Services and the policies established by the Board of Directors. Further, Melissa Gruhler will be responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the affairs, employees and resources of the corporation and for implementation of the policies and programs of the corporation.
Melissa Gruhler has been employed with FNRC since August 21, 1995. During her tenure she has held a variety of positions including, Service Coordinator, Supervising Service Coordinator, Case Management Supervisor and most recently, Associated Director of Client Services.
Her responsibilities have included: case management, supervisory/management of division operations, management of Case Management Supervisors, trainer for Person Centered Thinking, Implementation of the Learning Management System, trained in Emergency Preparedness for the organization, development of staff leaders amongst many other responsibilities.
Upon her promotion, her immediate goal will be to provide a smooth transition, providing leadership and support to all departments as the Center implements new service delivery models through the Self-Determination Program and the Home and Community Based Services Waiver Program, while maintaining the Center’s mission, vision and values.
