PERCENTAGE OF RATE ADJUSTMENT USED FOR WAGES AND BENEFITS FOR DIRECT CARE STAFF

May 23, 2023 Mike Mintline

Dear Providers,

On May 11, 2023, The Regional Center received the attached guidelines from the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) citing Welfare and Institutions Code Section 4519.10 (the Code). The link to the Code is here. In summary,  the code states providers who received  a rate increase in January 2023 are required to pay a certain percentage of that rate increase to enhance the wages and benefits of staff who spend at least 75% of their time providing direct services to consumers.  Providers are to maintain documentation, subject to audit by the DDS or regional center, of the portion of the rate increase that was spent for that purpose.

The applicable service codes and percentages can be viewed at this link.  Use Option 1 to select FNRC as the Regional Center and Option 2 to select the applicable service code, as shown below:

Please make diligent efforts to comply with these guidelines. They may be difficult to understand, so please email me at mmintline@farnorthernrc.org with questions.

Thank you,

Michael Mintline, CFO
