The Promotores Regional program hosted an open house for our Hmong and Mien community in Oroville, CA on Saturday, November 3, 2018. The event highlighted Far Northern Regional Center (FNRC) programs and services along with several local community agencies. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about each agency and ask questions. A cultural dance was perform by a Hmong and Mien dance group at the event to celebrate the unique cultures. Promotores Regional staff along with FNRC staff were present to answer questions regarding FNRC programs, assist with translation, and build awareness for regional center services.
Promotores Regional provides assistance to FNRC clients and families within the Southeast Asian and Hispanic/Latino community. Promotores assist clients in accessing and understanding services that language or cultural barriers may prevent. The Promotores also provide monthly workshops to clients; the workshops cover various topics that are rotated to different parts of our catchment area. Individuals interested in participating in the Promotores program can speak to their Service Coordinator.
