Raising Awareness about Abuse in California: A Multimedia contest sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank.

November 3, 2017 Adam Knight

Abuse of the elderly and adults with disabilities is a crime that is both underreported and poorly understood by the public. No one should be at risk of physical violence, exploitation or emotional abuse, yet 1 in 9 seniors and people with disabilities suffer abuse every day in our country. Help us get the message out that ABUSE OF ANYONE IS A HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUE! Contest Theme: All contest entries must address the basic theme that abuse of anyone (including/especially seniors and people with disabilities) is a human rights issue that should concern us all. You can address the theme explicitly or implicitly, seriously or humorously (in good taste please) but this theme must be central to the entry. Contest Categories: *1-minute public service video          *1-minute radio spot  *slogan or hashtag     *poster Entries will be judged on the effectiveness of the messaging, originality and creativity, as well as the quality of the product, and the organization and accuracy of the information presented. Winning entries may be used by the State of California and partner organizations in future abuse awareness campaigns. Who can enter: Open to all ages, backgrounds, and disability status! Contestants will need to self-select the most appropriate category to enter under: *Youth                      *Adult                       *Professional (marketing/public relations/advertising) Contest rules and deadline: Rule and judging criteria are posted on our Facebook page at RaisingAbuseAwarenessinCA. Entries must be uploaded to the contest Facebook page by midnight, February 1st, 2018 to be considered for the 2018 awards. Announcement of winners: The top three contestants in each category will be contacted in May 2018. Winning entries will be featured as part of the 2018 Elder & Dependent Adult Abuse Awareness Month event in Sacramento in June.
