On Tuesday, January 22, 2019 Far Northern Regional Center hosted a conference on Cultural and Linguistic Competency. The speaker Professor Tawara Goode is the director of the National Center for Cultural Competence at Georgetown University and the Georgetown University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities with a focus on national level efforts to advance and sustain cultural and linguistic competence. 150 attendees were present for the day long training to learn about understanding and responding to culture within the context of developmental disabilities services and supports, and the implications for developmental disabilities professionals and services providers.
